Artist Spotlight: American Authors
Brooklyn four-piece alternative rock group, American Authors, have hit the scene with no second thought (and completely owning it). Consisting of singer Zac Barnett, guitarist James Adam Shelley, bassist Dave Rublin, and Drummer Matt Sanchez, the group manages to throw everything from those hip-hop vibes we all know to some dance-pop synth. I wouldn’t be the first to tell you that this group shares a few aspects with Alt-J, Mumford and Sons, and even Fun.
Formed while attending school at Berklee College of Music, the group eventually dropped out, relocated to Brooklyn, NY, and became American Authors. Scoring a deal with Island Records in 2012, it was only up from there. Best known for their singles “Believer” and “Best Day of My Life”, the group has also had success with their Top 20 hit, “Go Big or Go Home” from their upcoming album, What We Live For. You can expect to hear the group’s sophomore album on July 1, 2016.
Chances are you’ve heard one of their feel-good jams somewhere along the way. No idea what I’m talking about? Check them out now or wait for the new album, you won’t find yourself disappointed by the new music. Keep your eyes peeled and be ready to snag a copy in just a few months!
