On Our Radar
Jamie Fine is Tired of Selling Out
After years of performing as part of a duo, Canadian singer/songwriter Jamie Fine launched her solo career in October of last year.
Initially thrust into the spotlight in 2018, Fine used to be half of the pop duo Elijah Woods x Jamie Fine. Fine told iHeartRadio that the two just didn’t see the same vision for themselves and that the two split as a result of a simple creative difference. Fine wanted to create music that fulfilled her – she had no interest in competing to top the charts.
The split wasn’t all that bad, it seems. She says that her push into a new direction has “expanded her horizons as a solo artist” and allowed her to “stay true to the genre-blurring and inventive sound” that she’s known for.
Her solo debut, “Sellout,” was co-written and produced by Woods to help communicate the internal struggle she had felt before branching off. Fine hasn’t announced plans for future releases, but she has shared that she will release songs as she feels they are ready to be heard. Gone are the days that she feels pressured to perform – she’s devoted to her love of writing and finding her own sound.
Though she’s only just begun this project, Fine has our attention.
