Kahone Concept is a Pittsburgh-based alternative pop/rock band that began in 2015. 23-year-old Ben Orrvick is the man behind it all. He taught himself to play various instruments as he grew up, leading to independent music creation by the time he turned 16. Orrvick’s first release was his EP CLOUDS, that he wrote, recorded, produced, and mixed on his own.
Orrvick says the name comes from an assignment he had in woodshop class, where he created a Cajón, which is a box shaped drum. He affixed a triangle symbol to the drum that he says personally defines his music. Though his friends may not understand the symbol, he says that’s not necessary.
“It’s important to find significance even in the smallest of things; we each find our own significance. It’s what gives us purpose,” he says.
