Warner Music Signs Algorithm to Record Deal
In an industry first, Warner Music has cut a record deal with an algorithm. The new signee, Endel, was developed by a German tech firm. The algorithm is known to create personalized soundscapes for listeners that change with a user’s surroundings.
The deal entitles Warner to 20 albums this year. Five have been created so far, called “Clear Night,” “Rainy Night,” “cloud Afternoon,” “Cloudy Night” and “Foggy Morning.” The next 15 albums will be geared toward the other modes in the app, including focus, relax, and on-the-go.
“This idea you could take beautiful music that adapts to you and makes you more productive, had me floored. In its current form Endel is brilliant, in its future form I believe Endel is life changing!” — Brad Barrish, Director of Customer Experience, Sonos
Endel is currently available on iOS and Amazon Echo. The app has a beta version on the Google Play Store and is coming soon to macOS and tvOS.
